Facile LC-MS/MS Analysis of sphingolipids Using Metal-free Column

In LC analyses of sphingophospholipids, such as sphingosine-1-phosphate(S1P) and ceramide-1-phosphate (C1P), a phosphate group in these molecules causes significant peak tailing, and therefore loss of sensitivity and reproducibility.

Recently, an improved LC-MS/MS method using a YMC-Triart C18 column in metal-free hardware was published by Gowda et al in the "Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry" journal. This application note shows the improved method using a YMC-Triart C18 metal-free column in comparison with the method using a conventional C18 column.
