Liquid chromatography
Monodisperse Fully Porous Particles (MFPP) have been shown to increase significantly the efficiency that can be provided by silica particle’s in chromatography. Evosphere® monodisperse particles significantly increase efficiency by reducing the A-term in the van-deemter curve. By providing a more uniform packed column bed with a less tortuous analyte flow path, MFPP can increase the efficiency of a packed column by up to 60% when compared to traditional porous particles.
This improvement is especially important in capillary scale chromatography where the quantitation of low abundance analytes such as peptides/proteins, metabolomics work can be enhanced with sharper peak shapes and increased peak height, resulting in greater sensitivity. Capillaries from 75µm up to 300µm are available with Evosphere particles, as well as 0.5mm and 1mm diameters for narrow bore systems.
Reducing the diameter of the column increases sensitivity and uses a much lower volume of solvent in the analysis. This reduction in solvent usage saves on both initial solvent costs and waste removal costs, which is becoming increasingly important for environmental friendly laboratory systems, smaller footprints and sustainability. Metabolomics, Nitrosamines, Lipidomic’s & Tocopherols are just some examples of the complex mixtures that will benefit from the increased sensitivity.
