Liquorice flavonoids are to be analysed using high-performance liquid chromatography by Weikang Bio-Technology.

The group has announced a new project that aims to determine how the flavonoids - and especially glycyrrhetinic acid - may be incorporated into therapeutic treatments for a variety of ailments.

Among them are allergies, excess potassium, weight loss, tumour formation, skin conditions, viral infections, hypertension and peptic ulcers.

High-performance liquid chromatography is to be applied to the process in order to separate, identify and quantify the compounds in the flavonoids based on their idiosyncracies.

Yin Wang, chair and chief executive officer of Weikang Bio-Technology, says: "Glycyrrhetinic acid has been proven to provide numerous health benefits for a variety of aliments and through the use of our state-of-the-art technology we expect to be able to produce high-quality therapeutics using this important medicinal compound."

Weikang Bio-Technology predicts that it is on the path to success thanks to its strong product base and the forward-thinking nature of its management team.
