DaVita Clinical Research has unveiled the results of its clinical development programs at the Annual Dialysis Conference (ADC).
The showcase has become a key annual meeting in the dialysis and nephrology communities, with staff from DaVita and DaVita Healthcare Partners forming a bridge between the company's healthcare community and the academic pharma and biotech research community.
Mahesh Krishnan, vice president of clinical research, said: "Our goal at DaVita is to try to improve our patients’ quality of life. Research is a critical vehicle to achieve that end.
"The work presented at ADC is intended to lead to better clinical outcomes and better quality of life for chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease patients around the world."
ADC also featured a number of presentations by John Moran, vice president of medical affairs at DaVita.
DaVita is a leading provider of kidney care in the US, providing services to patients with chronic kidney failure and end stage renal disease.
It is aiming to improve patients' quality of life by innovating clinical care and providing integrated treatment plans, personalised care teams and a range of health management services.
DaVita recently launched a national public service announcement to raise awareness on the dangers of kidney disease.
March marks National Kidney Month, with World Kidney Day taking place today (March 14th).
NBA all-star Alonzo Mourning and George Lopez are both kidney transplant recipients and are backing the day.
The leading causes of kidney are diabetes and hypertension, with African-Americans four times more likely to suffer from chronic kidney disease than white individuals and Hispanics twice as likely.
DaVita will also launch a kidney-disease awareness campaign in Denver to help make it the city with the most awareness of the disease in the US.
During National Kidney Month, DaVita is also raising awareness of the condition through social media.
