Available from Hichrom Limited, the new Macherey-Nagel NUCLEODUR® C18 PAH HPLC column is capable of separating the 16 PAH mixture according to EPA method 610 in less than 3 minutes. NUCLEODUR® C18 PAH has been specially developed for the analysis of PAHs by HPLC and shows outstanding resolution of PAHs due to the high steric selectivity it offers. The column also offers excellent stability and reproducibility. For separations where analysts prefer to avoid acetonitrile, NUCLEODUR® C18 PAH also offers excellent separation of all 16 PAHs using a methanol/water (acetonitrile free) gradient.

New regulations specify the separation of 2 additional PAHs (1- and 2- methylnaphthalene) and NUCLEODUR® C18 PAH also offers an excellent separation for all 18 PAHs in less than 7 minutes.

PAHs are suspected carcinogenic, mutagenic and teratogenic pollutants and occur naturally in substances such as coal and gas. They can be delivered into the environment through pyrolysis (incomplete burning) of organic materials such as coal, oil, fuel, wood, and tobacco and can be found in food, water and soil. PAHs can be detected by various chromatographic techniques including TLC, GC and HPLC and many countries have specific government regulations for their analysis and measurement (eg EPA 610 of the United States Environmental Protection Agency).

Initially available as a 3micron column, NUCLEODUR® C18 PAH is now also available as a 1.8micron column for even faster (ultra-fast or UHPLC) analysis of PAHs.
