The British Mass Spectrometry Society’s 40th Annual Meeting will be held in Manchester, a very fitting location, as John Dalton, J.J. Thompson and James Chadwick were all born, educated or worked in the city. The first commercial MS instruments were developed in Trafford Park, and today Manchester is the anchor point for one of the largest Mass Spectrometry clusters in Europe.
To celebrate this fortieth milestone the BMSS40 social program will include a curry night with live music performed by graduates of the Royal Northern College of Music, and a conference dinner at the National Football Museum.
BMSS40 scientific program has been organised in collaboration with the British Society for Proteome Research (BSPR). Three plenary lectures will be featured - The Maccoll Lecture: Professor I. Jon Amster (University of Georgia, USA), The Chair’s Invited Lecture: Professor Gary L. Glish (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA) and The Manchester Lecture: Dr Angela L. Lamb (British Geological Survey, UK).
