Testa Analytical has developed the BI-MwA Molecular Weight Analyzer – a compact, pre-aligned static light scattering detector that enables fast, accurate determination of the absolute average molecular weight of macromolecules.

Ideal for teaching laboratories and facilities processing a limited number of samples, the BI-MwA offers a straightforward alternative to a full GPC/SEC system. Its ease of use and minimal training requirements mean users can begin generating reliable results almost immediately.

Operation is simple: the sample is injected into a low-volume, 7-angle flow cell, where a highly sensitive, low-noise CCD detector captures the scattered light. Dedicated software then extrapolates the readings to zero angle, providing precise molecular weight values.

The instrument’s vertical flow path is designed to prevent trapped bubbles – a common issue in other multi-angle light scattering systems – while the conical geometry of the flow cell ensures complete flushing between runs, reducing the risk of cross-contamination.
