LC-MS
Bringing Selectivity to LC Columns
Jan 26 2021
Fortis Technologies brings new selectivity’s to its SpeedCore core-shell column range. New for 2021 is the SpeedCore AQUA and SpeedCore C18-PFP phase chemistries.
These additions bring the SpeedCore stationary phase range choice up to nine, giving the analyst the ability to significantly increase the chance of full LC resolution while maintaining short runs and high efficiency separations.
SpeedCore AQUA
The new SpeedCore AQUA is designed specifically to aid retention of polar analytes over that obtained on traditional alkyl chain phases. By combining it with the company’s core-shell particles the analyst will see high efficiency, high resolution and high sensitivity chromatography.
In the full application note the ability to retain small organic acids and water-soluble vitamins are highlighted as examples of small polar molecules being retained in simple mobile phases. The ability to run highly aqueous mobile phases without phase collapse, or having to move to more complex mobile phases containing ion-pair reagents, will in turn lead to a more robust and reproducible method being developed.
SpeedCore C18-PFP
The new SpeedCore C18-PFP is a combination stationary phase. Combining an alkyl chain C18 ligand with a pentafluorophenyl ligand gives the ability to retain not only hydrophobic species but also to add selectivity and polar retention for basic analytes. This mix allows complex samples to be analysed with one column.
Fortis Technologies supplies UHPLC and HPLC columns to the pharmaceutical, environmental and foodstuffs industries. Fortis Technologies driving goal is to supply innovative solutions to the separation and purification industries, utilising state of the art silica and bonding technologies at its UK site. A full range of stationary phases for every application is available; fully porous Fortis range for everyday robust applications, 1.7µm Fortis UHPLC columns for high resolution, sensitive methods, SpeedCore columns for fast efficient applications, FortisBIO columns for separation of peptides and proteins. All the columns are available in semi prep, capillary and analytical dimensions.
More information on this product and other novel solutions for LC and LC/MS can be found in the company’s Product Guide. Content includes solutions on unique selectivity, UHPLC particles, and high throughput with the companies PACE columns.
