SimGlycan software advance for results analysis

SimGlycan software has been developed by Premier Biosoft and Thermo Fisher Scientific to efficiently handle multi-stage and sequential mass spectrometry data against a comprehensive database, allowing results to be processed quicker and more accurately.

The software automatically matches experimentally acquired mass spectra against a comprehensive database and generates a list of candidate glycan structures scored to reflect match quality. This can reveal the relevant biological information necessary for the glycan structure analysed, such as glycan class and biological pathway, which are available through interactive links.

Mass spec is a commonly used and powerful tool for glycan structural elucidation. However, the large volumes of data that are generated make analysis rather arduous and time consuming.

The new interactive technology can be used with Thermo Scientific Orbitrap and ion trap mass spectrometers, including the Thermo Scientific LTQ, LTQ Velos and Velos Pro linear ion trap systems and the LTQ Orbitrap XL, Orbitrap Velos, Orbitrap Velos Pro, Orbitrap Elite, and MALDI Orbitrap hybrid systems in order to simplify results and provide efficient analysis.
