Concerns over food safety could lead to a change in colour for Lucozade drinks.
Manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) explained that it is looking for an alternative to the Sunset Yellow food additive that gives the product its distinctive orange shade.
It comes after the Food Standards Agency called for six colourings to be removed from all food and drink, due to a Southampton University study showing they caused "psychological harm" in children.
Potential problems include hyperactive behaviour and GSK is now printing a warning on Lucozade that reads: "Sunset Yellow may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children."
A spokesperson for the company remarked: "Due to technical difficulties, we have not yet been able to remove Sunset Yellow, although our efforts continue."
In the European Union, most additives must be clearly labelled in ingredients lists by name or E number - which is granted once safety tests have been passed.
