Sophisticated Temperature Control

Oct 29 2014

The highly dynamic temperature control systems of the Unistat series provide state-of-the-art solutions for extremely precise and efficient temperature control of double-walled reaction vessels and autoclaves in chemical process engineering. Contrary to classical circulation thermostats, the Unistats allow for extremely fast temperature changes and very broad temperature ranges without fluid change. The product range comprises more than 50 standard models and 200 variants with cooling capacities of up to 130 kW, covering temperatures from -125°C to +425°C. Unistats are the only system in the market that make a professional scale-up from research lab to production facility possible, under identical conditions and with consistent operation. The benefits for process engineers: optimum process safety, reproducibility, and process stability. The Unistat Hybrid technology, another feature of the Unistat product family, offers highly precise temperature control of large reactors of volumes of 10m³ and up. Here, additional energy sources such as steam, cooling water, or liquid nitrogen are used which the Unistat system controls precisely in an energy-efficient manner.

The new multitouch control Pilot ONE further improves the Unistats, allowing for operation via a 5.7“ TFT colour touchscreen with menu navigation in Smartphone style. At one glance, the main screen shows all key parameters such as process temperature, jacket temperature, and pump pressure. Real-time graphic representation of the temperature curves is provided as well. Change the view with one swipe to zoom in a curve graph or a table of temperature values. USB and network connections are standard features now, as is a data recorder that stores process data directly on a USB flash drive. Unistats have convincing features for perfect interaction with the reactor system, such as circulation pumps with high delivery rates for efficient thermal transfer. Cool-down at speeds of several hundred Kelvin per hour is possible. A look at the cooling capacity density according to DIN 12876 shows that the thermal dynamics of the Unistats is unique. No other system in the market achieves comparable speeds, as demonstrated by more than 200 case studies (see:  www.huber-online.com/casestudies/).
