New chromatography deal signed by Waters and Dani

A new deal signed between Waters and Dani Instruments has led to the creation of an integrated and compatible network which links the chromatography products of both firms.

Under the terms of the arrangement, the Waters Empower Chromatography Data Software solution will provide control for Dani's Headspace and Gas Chromatography instruments, and add to the other vendor systems that currently utilise the software.

According to the two firms, it will provide a number of advantages to scientists who use these systems, as they will now be able to use a single data management tool to help control a vast range of chromatographic modules, unlike the previous arrangement, where multiple software packages had to be relied upon.

For the organisations concerned, implementation a single solution for instrument control and documentation provides many benefits, including lower maintenance, training and validation costs, Waters said.

The company reiterated that it is committed to "working closely" with companies such as Dani to ensure support of the newest firmware for analytical instruments.

Umberto Saini Fasanotti, president of Dani Instruments, said the new agreement between Dani and Waters will ensure Empower Software users have access to the "unmatched productivity and reliability" of a multitude of Dani products, including the best-in-class headspace-gas chromatography (HS-GC) System.

"For example, this configuration is the ideal solution for the challenging analysis of residual solvents in pharmaceuticals, in compliance with USP <467>," he explained.

It comes shortly after Waters implemented a number of enhancements for its Alliance high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) system last month, in a bid to appease customer demand.

The company announced that the updated system will maintain key Alliance performance specifications and control algorithms to ensure that analysts can seamlessly replicate their existing methods.

"Since its introduction, the Alliance HPLC System has been continually enhanced, accommodating an enormous range of separation challenges," said Ian King, vice president of separation science for the Waters Division.

He added: "Waters will continue its commitment to upgrading the Alliance HPLC System with the assurance that any changes will not affect established, validated HPLC methods."
